Seeing & Being Seen

(2019.4 ~ 2019.5) Central Saint Martin, London, UK Costume design/ Performer/Animation design: Sharo Liang

Just being in a public place has already joined the reaction chain of seeing and being seen. This is a costume that explores seeing and being seen in the performance world. In the costume, all external sights are blocked, rather expose in the gaze of the spectator, using illustration to create alienated reflection of the audiences, with the design of this costume I tend to play with the juxtaposit relationship between the spectator and the performer. Try to integrate AR into the performance costumes to interact with the audience, with their phone scanning the illustration, triggers and animated the figures on the costume to raises the mobile phone and take a photo of the audience (see the video below), forming a mirror image with the audience's behavior.
